What to Know About Women’s Basketball Today

1. WNBA Players Land a Major CBA Deal 💰

After months of uncertainty and more than 100 hours of negotiations over the past week, the WNBA and players’ union have reached a verbal agreement on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. The deal still needs to be finalized, but this is a major step forward for the league. (ESPN)

WHY IT MATTERS: This is one of the biggest business moments in WNBA history. Player salaries are set to jump significantly, with an average around $600K, a minimum of at least $300K, and supermax deals reaching $1.4M in the first year of the agreement. The salary cap will rise from $1.5M to $7M, and players will receive roughly 20% revenue share. Simply put, players are finally getting paid at a level that reflects the league’s growth.

2. DIII Final Four Tips Off Today 🏀

The NCAA Division III Final Four is set for today, with Wisconsin-Oshkosh facing Denison at 5 PM ET and NYU taking on Scranton at 7:30 PM ET. Both games will stream on ESPN+. (NCAA)

WHY IT MATTERS: For many fans, Division III basketball is the purest version of the college game. No major NIL deals, no big program budgets. Just competitive basketball and teams playing because they love the game. And with NYU chasing a threepeat, there’s real history in play.

3. AP Names 2026 All-Americans 🌟

The Associated Press released its 2026 All-America teams, with Sarah Strong, Azzi Fudd, Mikayla Blakes, Lauren Betts, and Madison Booker earning First Team honors. Strong and Fudd are also the first teammates since 2020 to make the top team together.

WHY IT MATTERS: This is one of the highest individual honors in college basketball. Only five players make each team, so earning First Team status puts you among the best in the country. It’s also a good snapshot of who has defined this season, and who could carry that momentum into March.
