What to Know About Women’s Basketball Today

1. WNBA CBA Deadline Arrives Today ⏳

The WNBA and the players’ union exchanged counterproposals within 24 hours over the weekend as talks ramp up ahead of today’s March 10 deadline. Two major sticking points remain: players want league-funded housing preserved for all players (not just rookies), while the league appears unwilling to move past a 15% gross revenue share. (Sports Business Journal)

WHY IT MATTERS: This is a huge moment for the league. Back in February, the WNBA said a deal needed to be reached by March 10 in order to keep the May 8 season opener on track. There’s still a lot of offseason work ahead, from filling two expansion rosters to signing more than 100 free agents. In addition, broadcast partners need clarity in the event they need to adjust their programming plans. Either way, today is a big day and we’ll be following closely with our hopes high.

2. USA Basketball Names 3x3 Champions Cup Team 🇺🇸

Shakira Austin, Veronica Burton, Allisha Gray, and Naz Hillmon will represent the United States at the FIBA 3x3 Champions Cup in Bangkok this weekend, playing March 13–15. (USA Basketball)

WHY IT MATTERS: This group already has great chemistry. The four played together last year and captured gold at the 2025 FIBA 3x3 AmeriCup. Now they’ll look to bring that same energy to the Champions Cup and keep the U.S. rolling in international 3x3 competition.

3. Division II & III March Madness Fields Are Set 🔒

The NCAA Division II tournament bracket was finalized Sunday and kicks off this Friday, while the Division III games are already underway with the Sweet Sixteen set for this Friday.

WHY IT MATTERS: These programs may not have the same resources as Division I, but the level of competition is still incredibly high. Keep an eye on NYU in Division III, who have been undefeated all season, and the Grand Valley State Lakers as they try to repeat as D2 national champions.
