As the franchise prepares to move from Arlington to Dallas and build a new practice facility, it also needs an arena that matches the league's growing popularity. College Park Center in Arlington seats roughly 6,200 fans, while American Airlines Center holds more than 19,000, and the Wings have already shown they can fill it with stars like Paige Bueckers and Azzi Fudd.
2. NCAA Eligibility Ruling Creates More Chaos ⚖️
New week, new NCAA questions. A federal judge granted a preliminary injunction requiring the NCAA to restore eligibility for high school Class of 2022 athletes who used four seasons of eligibility this spring. (ESPN)
WHY IT MATTERS: This ruling expands beyond the original group of basketball players who sued the NCAA and now applies to Class of 2022 athletes across all sports. With the fall semester starting this month, colleges could be scrambling to adjust their rosters. It's also another legal setback for the NCAA as it continues trying to reshape its eligibility rules.
3. Nykesha Sales Returns to UConn 💙
A UConn legend is coming home. Nykesha Sales is headed back to Storrs, this time as an assistant coach after spending the past four seasons at Georgia. (UConn Athletics)
WHY IT MATTERS: Few people know what it takes to succeed better than Sales. As a player, she helped lead UConn to its first national championship in 1995, and finished as the program's all-time leading scorer. Sales went on to a nine-year WNBA career and became the Connecticut Sun's all-time leading scorer. Her return to the Huskies adds another respected voice to one of the sport's most successful programs.
