What to Know About Women’s Basketball Today
1. The Valkyries Keep Climbing 📈
The Golden State Valkyries are one of the WNBA's hottest teams. After winning seven of their last nine games, Golden State has climbed to No. 3 in the league standings with a 13-7 record, trailing only Minnesota and Las Vegas. (High Post Hoops)
WHY IT MATTERS: This is just the Valkyries' second season, and they already look like a legitimate contender. Golden State has built its success around elite defense and one of the deepest benches in the league. During their current three-game winning streak, the Valkyries held both Atlanta and New York to season-low scoring totals of 66 and 67 points. They have the second best Defensive Rating in the league, trailing only Minnesota.
🗳️ Do you think the Valkyries are legitimate title contenders this season?

2. JuJu Watkins Is Back on the Court 🙌
USC announced Monday that JuJu Watkins has officially returned to the court after missing the entire 2025-26 season while recovering from a torn ACL. Watkins suffered the injury during an NCAA Tournament game against Mississippi State on March 24, 2025. (ESPN)
WHY IT MATTERS: This is huge news for both Watkins and USC. The former No. 1 recruit quickly had an impact on USC, leading the Trojans to the Elite Eight in her freshman year. During her sophomore season, before the injury, she averaged 23.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game while earning National Player of the Year honors. Her return could lift USC back into national contender status.

3. Marine Johannès Is Heading to Unrivaled 🇫🇷
Marine Johannès has signed a multi-year contract with Unrivaled and will make her debut during the league's 2027 season. (Unrivaled)
WHY IT MATTERS: Unrivaled is quickly becoming a major destination for not only US talent, but international talent. The French star, and current Liberty guard, is the latest WNBA player to join the offseason league. The announcement comes just days after the league signed Bridget Carleton, and earlier this month it added Gabby Williams as well. Unrivaled has quickly become a compelling option for WNBA players, replacing some of the legacy international leagues.
