1. Minnesota is Number One ☝️
It’s coming down to the wire. The Lynx lost on Tuesday night, but so did the Valkyries, giving Minnesota a lock on the number one seed for the playoffs. The rest of the playoff picture is still up for grabs while the rest of the playoff-bound teams battle for position. (NBC Sports)
WHY IT MATTERS: This is pretty remarkable. The playoffs start Sunday, September 27, and nearly every regular season matchup still matters. Golden State and Las Vegas are battling for the number two spot, while only two games separate the bottom four teams. It will come down to the final day of the regular season to see who plays who in the first round of the playoffs.

2. The Caitlin 1 Is Almost Here 👟
Get ready CC fans. Caitlin Clark’s first signature shoe officially launched its release campaign with Nike debuting a new ad Tuesday. The Caitlin 1 arrives October 1. (Yahoo Sports)
WHY IT MATTERS: The ad has some fun with the attention paid to basically everything Clark does. It follows an ordinary morning before landing on the punchline. The campaign gives Nike one more push before one of the most anticipated basketball shoe launches of the year.
3. Houston Loses Its Biggest Transfer Before the Season Begins 🩼
Houston has a problem. University of Houston junior Justice Carlton will miss the entire 2026-27 season after suffering a left knee injury during the preseason. (ESPN)
WHY IT MATTERS: Carlton transferred to Houston after two seasons at Texas, where she started 28 games last season and helped the Longhorns reach a second straight Final Four. Her decision to leave a starting role on a national contender was one of the more surprising moves of the offseason, and she was expected to become a centerpiece at Houston. Now the Cougars will have to move forward without one of their biggest offseason additions.
