What to Know About Women’s Basketball Today
1. Brackets Busted on Day 4 ⛓️💥
The Sweet 16 field is set, and there are a few surprises in the mix. After a mostly predictable first few days, Day 4 flipped things with No. 6 Notre Dame, No. 5 Kentucky, and No. 10 Virginia all pulling off big wins to advance. (ESPN)
👉 See the current bracket. The next round tips off Friday, March 27.
WHY IT MATTERS: This is where the tournament starts to get really fun. Few expected Virginia’s run, which stands out the most. A First Four play-in team has never made the Sweet 16 before, and now they’ve done it by taking down No. 2 Iowa. It’s also a reminder that, at this stage in the season, momentum matters more than seeding.

2. WNBA Players Approve New 7-Year CBA Deal 🤝
The WNBA players union has officially approved the new 7-year collective bargaining agreement. About 90% of players voted, and those who did were all in favor. (NBC Sports)
WHY IT MATTERS: This is a big step toward making one of the most important deals in league history official. Now it heads to the WNBA Board of Governors for final approval. Once that happens, the new structure, including higher salaries and revenue sharing, becomes reality.

3. Florida Hires Tammi Reiss as Head Coach 🐊
It’s a new day for the Gators. Florida has tapped Rhode Island head coach Tammi Reiss to lead its program. She spent the last seven seasons building URI into a tournament team, including their first NCAA appearance in 30 years this season. (AP News)
WHY IT MATTERS: Reiss has put in more than two decades in coaching, and this is her shot at a bigger stage in the SEC. It’s a well-earned opportunity, and a big test, going up against some of the best programs in the country.
In case you’re trying to place where you’ve seen Reiss before, here are fun facts that may jog your memory: She was college teammates with Dawn Staley at Virginia, and even appeared in the film Love & Basketball shortly after playing in the WNBA.
