Good morning! âď¸
Weâll be off Friday and Monday for the Fourth of July holiday. We hope you get a chance to catch some of the nationally televised WNBA games this weekend, and weâll see you again on Tuesday, July 7.
What to Know About Womenâs Basketball Today
1. Phee Is Back on the Practice Court đ
Napheesa Collier was back practicing with the Minnesota Lynx this week, another encouraging step in her recovery from offseason ankle surgeries. There's still no timeline for her return to game action, but seeing her back on the court with her teammates is a great sign. (ESPN)
WHY IT MATTERS: The Lynx are about to get even better. Collier injured both ankles during last season and had surgery on her right ankle in January, followed by surgery on her left ankle in March. Minnesota already sits atop the WNBA standings without their star forward. Adding last year's MVP runner-up back to the lineup will make one of the league's best teams even tougher to beat.

2. Cheryl Reeve Is One Win Away From the Record đ¤Š
Cheryl Reeve could become the winningest regular-season coach in WNBA history on Friday when the Lynx visit the New York Liberty. She enters the game tied with Mike Thibault at 379 career regular-season wins. (Bleacher Report)
WHY IT MATTERS: Reeve was inducted into the Women's Basketball Hall of Fame just last weekend, and she keeps adding to an already remarkable career. She has led Minnesota to four WNBA championships, guided Team USA to Olympic gold in 2024, and reached the playoffs in all but two seasons since taking over the Lynx in 2010. Following the Lynxâs next win, she'll stand alone with the most regular-season victories in WNBA history.

3. Rutgers Will Represent the USA in Peru đ
Rutgers women's basketball will represent the United States at this month's FISU America Games in Lima, Peru, from July 18 to 28. More than 300 American student-athletes will compete across 15 sports during the event. (Rutgers Athletics)
WHY IT MATTERS: The FISU America Games give college athletes a chance to compete internationally while representing their schools and country. It's also a valuable opportunity for new head coach Gary Redus II and his team to build chemistry before the season begins. Redus took over the program in March after Rutgers finished last in the Big Ten last season, making this an early chance to begin building momentum.
