What to Know About Women’s Basketball Today
1. Parker & Delle Donne Head to the Hall 🏆
It’s confirmed. Candace Parker and Elena Delle Donne are headed to the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2026. Additional inductees could be announced in the coming week, but these two greats are officially entering the hall. (Sports Illustrated)
WHY IT MATTERS: This is the highest honor the game can offer, and both players earned it. Parker changed what versatility looks like at the pro level, winning titles with three different franchises. Delle Donne brought one of the most efficient scoring profiles we’ve ever seen. And while they are retired from playing, neither has stepped away from the game. Parker is shaping how fans experience it on broadcasts, while Delle Donne continues contributing through USA Basketball.

2. Team USA Preps for World Cup With A New Line-Up 🇺🇸
Back again. USA Basketball announced its 15-player roster for this week’s national team training camp in Phoenix, led by head coach Kara Lawson, and WNBA All-Stars A’ja Wilson, Napheesa Collier, and Sabrina Ionescu. (USA Basketball)
WHY IT MATTERS: This is another opportunity for Team USA to prepare for the next World Cup. It gives GM Sue Bird and the staff a chance to evaluate talent, test combinations, and see who fits together on the floor. For some of the younger players, it’s an additional opportunity to prove themselves. For others, especially WNBA vets, it doubles as a chance to prepare for the WNBA season.

3. Houston Is Already Building Its Front Office 🏗️
The ink’s not dry on the Connecticut Sun sale yet, but the new Houston ownership group is moving forward. The Houston Comets are hiring former ESPN reporter Kevin Pelton for a new front office role as the franchise prepares for its 2027 return. (ESPN)
WHY IT MATTERS: There’s still time before Houston takes the court, and the final move needs to be approved by the WNBA Board of Governors, but the work is already underway. Building a front office now signals that ownership is serious about competing. And with so many player movement decisions happening across the league, early momentum can be valuable. If the Comets want to attract top talent down the line, players need to know what leaders will be positioning the team for success.
