What to Know About Women’s Basketball Today
1. WNBA Board of Governors Ratifies New CBA 🤝
The WNBA Board of Governors has officially ratified the league’s new seven-year collective bargaining agreement through 2032, following Monday’s unanimous approval from the players’ union. (The Guardian)
WHY IT MATTERS: This was the final major hurdle. While the formal document still needs to be drafted and signed, the deal is essentially done. That means the 2026 season is back on track, with no labor uncertainty hanging over it. Now attention shifts to what comes next, such as timelines for free agency and the expansion draft.

2. Transfer Portal Movement Is Already Starting 👀
Even with the official portal window nearly two weeks away, April 6–20, college players are already announcing their plans to transfer, including Tennessee players Deniya Prawl and Alyssa Latham, as well as Iowa State star Addy Brown and several of her Cyclone teammates.
WHY IT MATTERS: The new 15-day window was created after coaches pushed for a shorter, more focused timeline. But players are not waiting around for a champion to be crowned before making decisions. For teams still playing in the tournament, this creates an especially challenging time for coaching staffs as they balance the here and now with recruiting for next year. And for players, they are placing big bets on their futures that can shape not just their own careers, but the direction of entire programs.

3. Kristy Curry Leaves Alabama for USF 🎯
From the Crimson Tides to the Florida beaches, we’re seeing waves. The University of South Florida has hired Alabama head coach Kristy Curry to lead its program, ending her 13-year run in the SEC. (USA Today)
WHY IT MATTERS: This is not a typical move. The SEC is one of the most resourced and competitive conferences in the sport, and coaches rarely leave it voluntarily. Curry heading to USF signals a different kind of opportunity, and it’ll be interesting to see how she builds in the AAC with a fresh start.
