What to Know About Women’s Basketball Today
1. Edwards, Fulwiley, and the Williamses Returning to Team USA 🇺🇸
USA Basketball announced its 2026 women’s 3x3 national team roster for the upcoming FIBA 3x3 World Cup, with Joyce Edwards, MiLaysia Fulwiley, Mikaylah Williams, and Sahara Williams set to represent the United States from June 1-7. (USA Basketball)
WHY IT MATTERS: The FIBA 3x3 World Cup is one of the biggest events in international 3x3 basketball, with 40 teams competing over a full week. Countries usually bring some of their best players, and this U.S. group already has experience winning together, winning two Women’s Series events recently.

2. Notre Dame Lands a No. 5 Recruit 🍀
Eve Long, the No. 5 recruit in the Class of 2027, committed to Notre Dame over finalists that included UConn, UCLA, Duke, and Kansas. The 6-foot-3 forward from Kansas averaged 32.7 points and 9.8 rebounds this past season while earning Kansas Gatorade Player of the Year honors. (ESPN)
WHY IT MATTERS: This is a big recruiting win for Niele Ivey and Notre Dame. Long is the program’s first commitment in the 2027 class and its highest-ranked pledge since Kate Koval in 2024. The Irish could be building something strong right now. They already have the nation’s fifth-ranked 2026 class and just made an Elite Eight run this past season.

3. Future Team USA Stars Begin U17 Trials 💪
USA Basketball’s U17 national team trials begin today, with 46 athletes from the graduating classes of 2026 through 2029 competing for 12 roster spots. The final roster will represent the United States at the 2026 FIBA U17 Women’s World Cup in Brno, Czechia this July.
WHY IT MATTERS: This is one of the first big national stages for many of the future stars of women’s basketball. Former USA Women’s U17 National Team players include Paige Bueckers, Breanna Stewart, Arike Ogunbowale, Aliyah Boston, Caitlin Clark, Cameron Brink, and JuJu Watkins. Some of the names competing this week will eventually become college stars, WNBA draft picks, and longtime Team USA players themselves.
