Good morning! âď¸
Before we get into todayâs stories, Iâm excited to share something Iâve been quietly working on for a while. Itâs a new way for us to spend a little more time with womenâs basketball and have something we can actually hold onto. More below. - Kim
What to Know About Womenâs Basketball Today
1. Training Camp Starts Sunday đ
WNBA training camps officially open this Sunday, April 19, as teams get on the court together for the first time ahead of the 2026 season.
WHY IT MATTERS: This is where teams start figuring things out on the floor. They have less than a week before preseason games begin on April 25, so decisions will come quickly. Rosters will take shape, which means some tough cuts are on the way, including players we know well.

2. Free Agency Isnât Done Yet đ
Most of the big names are off the free agency board, but several impactful players are still available, including Emma Meesseman, Natasha Cloud, Tiffany Hayes, Tina Charles, and Aari McDonald. (Sports Illustrated)
WHY IT MATTERS: Adding any of these players could seriously reshape a roster and a teamâs competitiveness quickly. It also shows how tight this offseason timeline has been after the CBA delay. Things have mostly stayed on track, but thereâs still big movement happening late, adding unexpected uncertainty on where these stars will land just days before the season starts.

3. Napheesa Collier Signs Supermax Deal (But Just 1 Year) đ°
Napheesa Collier is staying in Minnesota, agreeing to a one-year, $1.4 million supermax deal with the Lynx. (ESPN)
WHY IT MATTERS: Phee continues to cement herself as one of the leagueâs top players after back-to-back second-place MVP finishes. She now joins Aâja Wilson and Kelsey Mitchell as the only players on supermax deals. What stands out here is the one-year term. Sheâll be an unrestricted free agent again after this season, which keeps her future options open.
đŤ A Snail Mail Experience for Womenâs Basketball Fans
30 Second Timeout has always been about helping you stay connected to womenâs basketball in a way that fits into your day.
But if youâre anything like me, youâve probably felt the other side of that too. Everything moves quickly. It lives on screens. Itâs easy to scroll past.
Sometimes you just want to slow down a bit. Spend a little more time with things you love.
Thatâs what my new project is built for.
The Post-Up Club is a monthly snail mail experience for womenâs basketball fans. Each month, youâll receive a thoughtfully written letter from me, along with a few small paper extras, all centered around the players, moments, and stories that make the game special.
Iâm starting this club with only 100 subscribers so I can keep this thoughtful and manageable from the beginning. My first shipment goes out May 1.
*If you sign up before the 25th, your first letter will arrive in May.
