Then, later that evening, the WNBA Finals come down to a winner-take-all Game 7.
What to Know About Women’s Basketball Today
1. The WNBA Finals Are Going the Distance 🏆
We're getting the first Game 7 in WNBA Finals history. The Atlanta Dream beat the Golden State Valkyries 80-69 on Thursday, forcing one final showdown in a series that's gone back and forth from the start. (ESPN)
WHY IT MATTERS: After six games played in front of sold-out crowds, we're guaranteed a first-time champion. This is only the second best-of-seven Finals in WNBA history, and the first to reach Game 7. Golden State could win it all in just its second season, while Atlanta is looking to finally break through after being swept in its three previous Finals appearances. And with record viewership adding to the excitement, Saturday's game will have plenty of eyes on it.
📺 Watch Game 7: Sat., Oct. 31 at 8 p.m. ET on USA Network, CNBC & Peacock.

2. The Houston Comets Have a New Look 🚀
The Houston Comets unveiled their new logo, keeping the original navy blue, red, and silver colors. The design features a red basketball comet streaking through a blue “H,” with four stars honoring the team's four WNBA championships. (Yahoo Sports)
WHY IT MATTERS: The franchise relocating from Connecticut is bringing back one of the WNBA's most recognizable names. The original Comets were the league's first dynasty, winning its first four championships from 1997 to 2000. The new logo gives a nod to that legacy while putting a fresh spin on the team's identity.

3. The Fever Deliver $40.3 Million in Sponsor Value 📈
The Indiana Fever generated an estimated $40.3 million in social media value for their sponsors in 2026, according to a new report. That puts the Fever among the top professional sports teams in the country. (GOALS Sports)
WHY IT MATTERS: Only three teams ranked higher: the NBA's San Antonio Spurs and MLB's New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers. The Fever finished ahead of every NFL and NHL team, showing just how valuable the attention around women's basketball has become for sponsors.
Two Finals Teams, Two New Ornaments 🎄
With the Valkyries and Dream getting ready for a winner-take-all Game 7, we thought this would be a fun time to share two new ornaments. Yes, it's still just October, but there's nothing wrong with getting an early start on decorating for the holidays!
