What to Know About Womenâs Basketball Today
1. Aâja Wilson Wins Her Fifth MVP đ
Aâja Wilson has been named the WNBAâs 2026 Most Valuable Player, giving the Las Vegas Aces star her fifth MVP award and third straight. (WNBA)
WHY IT MATTERS: Wilson is building a one-woman dynasty. At just 30 years old, she's won MVP in more than half of her 9 WNBA seasons. She's now the only player with five MVP awards and the first to win three straight.

2. Iowa Sells Out Season Tickets Again đ
For the fourth straight season, Iowa womenâs basketball has sold out its season tickets. The Hawkeyes announced the sellout Wednesday ahead of the 2026-27 season. (Hawkeye Sports)
WHY IT MATTERS: The sellout streak began during Caitlin Clarkâs final season at Iowa, but it has lasted well beyond her departure. Clark helped bring a huge audience to the program, and four straight sellouts suggest fans have found plenty of reasons to stick around.

3. Upshot League Is Headed to Tampa Bay đ´
The Upshot League is adding Tampa Bay for its second season. It will be the leagueâs seventh team and its third new addition for next season. (Yahoo Sports)
WHY IT MATTERS: Upshot is nearly doubling in size after just one season, creating more opportunities for players who donât land WNBA roster spots to stay in the U.S. and develop their games as professionals. The expansion is also a signal that the league is finding fans in cities that don't have WNBA teams.
