What to Know About Women’s Basketball Today
1. Cleveland's New Team Has a Name 🌊
Cleveland fans have heard the call. The WNBA's newest expansion franchise officially unveiled its identity on Tuesday. The team will be known as the Cleveland Sirens. The club, joining the league in 2028, also revealed its logo and branding. (ESPN)
WHY IT MATTERS: Cleveland joins Detroit and Philadelphia as the next three expansion teams set to enter the league. One surprise is that the original Cleveland Rockers name won't be returning, even though the Rockers were one of the WNBA's eight original franchises. The league is growing from a strong foundation while also building a new identity for its future.

2. WNBA 2027 Season Tickets Are Getting A Price Hike 🎟️
Someone has to pay the players, it looks like it’s ultimately the fans. Season ticket renewal notices are starting to arrive, and many fans are seeing significant price increases for 2027. Early reports show some seats increasing anywhere from 22% to 50% per ticket. (Front Office Sports)
WHY IT MATTERS: As player salaries continue to rise and teams spend more to operate, those costs eventually have to be covered somewhere. Teams say higher operating expenses, not the upcoming CBA, are driving these increases, but for many longtime season ticket holders, the result are the same. Combined with a longer regular season next year, some loyal fans may find it harder to keep the seats they've held for years.

3. A'ja Wilson Keeps Climbing The Scoring List 📈
We’re watching one of the greatest in real time. A'ja Wilson passed Katie Smith this week to move into 12th place on the WNBA's all-time scoring list with 6,465 career points. (ESPN Insights)
WHY IT MATTERS: Wilson reached this milestone in just 295 games, far fewer than most of the players around her on the list. Only Nneka Ogwumike and Breanna Stewart ahead of her are still active, and Wilson is still in the middle of her prime. If she stays healthy over the next few seasons, a spot in the top five feels well within reach.
