Good morning! âď¸
Some disappointing news out of Indianapolis last night - Caitlin Clark announced on Instagram that she will not be returning to the court this season. Letâs hope she makes a full recovery this coming off-season.
What to Know About Womenâs Basketball Today
1. Bird, Fowles & Moore Enter the Hall This Weekend đ
This Saturday, three WNBA legendsâSue Bird, Sylvia Fowles, and Maya Mooreâwill be enshrined into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, MA. (Naismith HOF)
WHY IT MATTERS: This is one of the most dominant classes in womenâs basketball history. Combined, the trio boasts 11 Olympic gold medals and 10 WNBA championships.
Bird played 19 seasons with Seattle, winning four titles and setting the all-time assists record. Fowles retired as the leagueâs all-time rebound leader, with two rings, an MVP, and four Defensive Player of the Year awards. Moore, one of the greatest winners in hoops, powered Minnesota to four championships and added both MVP and Finals MVP honors.

2. Angel Reese Joins TOGETHXR Ownership đ¤
Chicago Sky forward and two-time All-Star Angel Reese is the newest owner in TOGETHXR, the media collective co-founded by Sue Bird in 2021 to elevate womenâs sports through storytelling. (USA Today)
WHY IT MATTERS: Todayâs WNBA players look to expand their impact beyond the court, and this is only the latest major portfolio move by Reese. TOGETHXR has already made waves with its âEveryone Watches Womenâs Sportsâ campaign, which generated over $6M in revenue. Reese joins a roster of athlete-owners like Michelle Wie West and says sheâs excited to add her voice and perspective to the groupâs mission.

3. Valkyries Clinch Playoffs in Inaugural Season đ
The Golden State Valkyries are officially postseason-bound. With Thursdayâs comeback win over Dallas (84-80), they became the first expansion team in WNBA history to make the playoffs in their debut season. (Golden State Valkyries)
WHY IT MATTERS: Expectations were modest for Golden State, but the Valkyries have been one of the leagueâs biggest surprisesâriding a six-game win streak, holding a 23â18 record, and ranking 6th overall. Theyâve also led the league in average home attendance, proving Bay Area fans were ready for this team. Expansion franchises in other leagues often take years to find success, but the Valkyries have set a new standard.
