Good morning! We’re off Monday, 1/19 for MLK Jr. Day — hope you have a great weekend.
If you’re watching hoops there’s plenty on. Unrivaled is on all weekend, and Sunday features two big college matchups: No. 6 LSU at No. 13 Oklahoma (3 PM ET, ESPN2) and No. 3 UCLA vs. No. 12 Maryland (4 PM ET, NBC).
What to Know About Women’s Basketball Today
1. Athletes Unlimited Unveils Final 40-Player Roster 📣
Athletes Unlimited announced the final 40-player roster for its upcoming women’s basketball season, which tips off February 4 in Nashville. (Athletes Unlimited)
WHY IT MATTERS: This roster really does feel like the best of both worlds. You’ve got proven vets like Tina Charles, Alysha Clark, and Odyssey Sims alongside younger players ready for bigger moments, including Aneesah Morrow and Te-Hina Paopao. As AU heads into its fifth season, it keeps showing there’s real demand for high-level pro hoops outside the WNBA calendar.

2. Dallas Wings’ Arena & Practice Facility Delayed to 2027 🏗️
The Dallas Wings’ long-awaited downtown arena and practice facility will no longer open before the 2026 WNBA season, with timelines now pushed to 2027. (Dallas News)
WHY IT MATTERS: This situation has officially moved from “disappointing” to “messy.” Construction on the $48.6 million training facility still has not started, even after a groundbreaking ceremony last fall. The city initially took on the project, then handed responsibility back to the Wings once it became clear the timeline would not hold, and negotiations are still ongoing. Facilities matter in this league, especially for recruiting free agents, and right now Dallas is stuck in limbo while the rest of the WNBA continues to move forward.

3. Basket Landes Stuns Fenerbahçe in EuroLeague Shocker 😲
France’s Basket Landes handed powerhouse Fenerbahçe an 80–61 loss in one of the most surprising EuroLeague Women results in recent memory. It was Fenerbahçe’s first loss of the season. (Swish Appeal)
WHY IT MATTERS: This is why we love the game. Fenerbahçe has looked untouchable all season, rolling out a lineup stacked with stars like Emma Meesseman, Kayla McBride, Gabby Williams, Julie Allemand, and Iliana Rupert while charging toward a potential EuroLeague three-peat. Basket Landes does not have the same household names, but they showed how far cohesion and confidence can take you. Connecticut Sun rookie Leïla Lacan led the charge with 28 points in what may have been the best game of her pro career.
