What to Know About Women’s Basketball Today

1. Angel Reese Helps Atlanta Even the Finals 🍑

The Atlanta Dream bounced back Monday night, beating the Golden State Valkyries 79-65 at Chase Center to tie the WNBA Finals at 1-1. Angel Reese led the way with 30 points and 16 rebounds, joining Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones as the only players to put up those numbers in a Finals game. (NBC Sports)

WHY IT MATTERS: This was Atlanta's first Finals win in franchise history, and it came on the road. The Dream have now taken home-court advantage away from Golden State, and the best-of-seven series will go at least five games. Game 3 tips off Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET at Atlanta's State Farm Arena on USA Network and Peacock.

2. The WNBA Is Getting a Major Tech Upgrade 📡

The WNBA, NBA, and AT&T announced an upgrade to the technology that moves live game footage, replays and other content between arenas and broadcasters. The upgraded system can handle more than 118 high-quality video streams per game, helping make broadcasts faster and more reliable. (NBA Communications)

WHY IT MATTERS: As more fans watch games on TV and streaming platforms, the technology behind those broadcasts matters more than ever. With the WNBA adding teams and reaching more viewers, this upgrade will help the league keep up with growing demand and deliver more game coverage to fans.

3. UConn Takes Down Texas in Preseason Showdown 🐺

UConn picked up an impressive 83-61 exhibition win over Texas on Monday night in Hartford. Sarah Strong led the Huskies with 27 points, while Jovana Popovic added 22 points and seven rebounds. Madison Booker paced Texas with 23 points. (WFSB)

WHY IT MATTERS: Exhibition games don't count toward the standings, but they're a valuable chance for teams to see where they stand before the season begins. Both programs reached last season's Final Four and enter this year with high expectations. UConn is ranked No. 2 in ESPN's preseason Top 25, while Texas comes in at No. 9.
