What to Know About Women’s Basketball Today
1. A’ja Wilson Is Still in Her Prime 👑
A'ja Wilson delivered another reminder Tuesday night of why she's one of the best in basketball. The Aces star finished with 25 points, 15 rebounds, 5 blocks, and 3 steals in a win over the Sparks. It was the third game of her career with at least 25 points, 15 rebounds, and 5 blocks, breaking a tie with Hall of Famer Sylvia Fowles for the most such games in WNBA history. (WNBA)
WHY IT MATTERS: Wilson is already the only player in WNBA history to win four MVP awards. The remarkable part is that, at 29-years-old, she’s still in her prime. Another MVP season is very much on the table. Fans often talk about wishing they could have watched the all-time greats in their prime. With Wilson, we're getting that chance right now.
🗳️ Is A'ja Wilson your MVP pick right now?

2. What’s Going On in Phoenix? 🤔
The Phoenix Mercury's difficult start to the season continues. On Monday, Phoenix dropped its sixth straight game and fell to 2-8 after a 111-77 home loss to the Minnesota Lynx. The 34-point defeat tied the second-largest home loss in franchise history and left the Mercury alone in last place. (USA Today)
WHY IT MATTERS: This isn't where many people expected Phoenix to be. The Mercury finished second last season and returned four of their five starters. Alyssa Thomas, DeWanna Bonner, and Kahleah Copper are all All-Stars, and on paper, this looked like a team that could compete near the top of the standings. Instead, they're still searching for answers nearly a quarter of the way into the season.

3. Tyasha Harris Heads Into the South Carolina Hall of Fame 🏛️
One of South Carolina's all-time great point guards is being recognized. Former Gamecocks star Tyasha Harris has been named to the South Carolina Hall of Fame Class of 2026. Harris played in Columbia from 2016 through 2020 and helped lead one of the most successful stretches in program history. (South Carolina Athletics)
WHY IT MATTERS: Harris bookended her college career with two unforgettable seasons. As a freshman starting point guard, she helped guide South Carolina to its first national championship in 2017. As a senior, she led the Gamecocks to a 32-1 record. South Carolina appeared poised to compete for another national title before the NCAA Tournament was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. She’s rightfully being recognized as a player who helped shape one of women's basketball's modern powerhouses.
