Good morning! ☕️

The last spot in the WNBA Semifinals will be decided tonight when Dallas visits Golden State. Game 3 tips off at 9 p.m. ET on ESPN2.

What to Know About Women’s Basketball Today

1. The Aces Are Headed Back to the Semifinals ♦️

Las Vegas is moving on. The Aces beat the Fever 94-83 in Thursday’s winner-take-all Game 3 and will face the winner of Dallas-Golden State in the Semifinals. (ESPN)

WHY IT MATTERS: Indiana stayed within reach, but the defending champs pulled away late behind another huge game from A’ja Wilson, who finished with 36 points and 10 rebounds. Las Vegas has been here before, and with Wilson still playing MVP-caliber basketball, the Aces remind us just how dangerous they are in the postseason.

2. Angel Reese Is the WNBA’s Defensive Player of the Year 🛡️

Atlanta Barbie is having a season. Angel Reese has won the 2026 WNBA Defensive Player of the Year award after her first season with Atlanta. (WNBA)

WHY IT MATTERS: This is the first major WNBA season award in Reese’s young career. She is also the first Dream player to win the award. She helped Atlanta finish third in the league in defensive rating, while her work on the glass helped the Dream allow a league-low 9.5 second-chance points per game. And perhaps most importantly, Reese and the Dream are now in the Semifinals, getting ready to face the New York Liberty.

3. Project B Will Tip Off in China 🇨🇳

Mark your calendars, hoops fans. We now know when and where Project B will play its first games. The new pro basketball league will open its inaugural season in Hangzhou, China, from Jan. 19-24, 2027. (USA Today)

WHY IT MATTERS: Project B’s momentum appears to be picking up. This announcement gives us an official start date for the Project B season. It also starts the clock. The league has a little more than three months to sign 40-plus more players, lock down the rest of its tournament locations, and fully prepare for its inaugural season.
